Can I use my phone's SIM for unlimited?

Maybe an odd question. But is it possible to trick a carrier into thinking my WE826/EM7565 combo is actually a cellphone? So I'm not limited to a hotspot data cap. I vaguely remember reading about it somewhere but I can't find any info on it.
