We826-T2 USB Port with iPhone tethered

I have a usb to lightning cable plugged into the router and the other end into my iPhone 8plus. The iPhone is receiving charging power through the cable.
I did not get an alert on iPhone to trust a 3rd party device. I can’t get it to do anything. No mention if that port anywhere u can locate. I thought I should be able to turn on tethering one iPhone and use the data internet connection from my phone through the router.
I am just playing around. This is not my final setup. SIM card is being shipped.
For stat irs worth an SD Carr in SD slot is seen no issues. I don’t have a usb drive thumb external to test the USB port for disk access.
