WG3526-P POE question

Tried to search....suspect the answer is out there somewhere....
Dumb question: I have this router working great via POE. I've got outdoor ethernet ran to the roof and will soon move it to the roof. I made the assumption that the router could be powered via a single ethernet run to the roof AND that this same single ethernet cable could be connected to my LAN via this same cable so the router can assign IP addresses to the LAN etc?
Currently I can only get my computer to pull an IP address from the router if I plug it into a LAN port or use WIFI...not if I move the computers ethernet to the POE injector.
Do I need to reconfigure the POE port/WAN port on the router?
