Wireless Joint

I have a zte mf279 and a Netgear m1 that I tried before getting a mofi4500.

I’m curious if there are any options for using the modems, best I can tell they are both using the lte Qualcomm x16 modem, for building a router modem that uses OpenWrt?

Or if I’m something something other options i’d Be happy to hear.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here, but if you're looking to build your own router/modem combo you can do it.

Check out this link. It's the same hardware the mofi4500 uses, that you can use to build your own router/modem running OpenWRT as desired.

Are they a Sierra wireless card? How do I identify them?

Unless the 4G modems you have are removable from the hardware you already have, then I'd imagine you'll need to buy one. I recommend the Sierra MC7455. I have it and it works great.

They are removable and look like a “mc” style board from the pictures I can find. I just don’t know if they would be locked or not.

Only one way to find out, if they are mini-pci, you can buy the external USB enclosure for them and try them out.

Probably best though to try and do some googling though on the model modem for more info first.

If the Netgear M1 is the Nighthawk Mobile Router (which I think it is), you can use it in USB mode to the WE826 LTE router. That would allow you to use the M1 as a modem without having to modify it. the WE826 LTE router can use a USB modem.
