EM12-G not connecting

I'm totally new to this. So please forgive me for my ignorance.

I bought the EM12-G and the M.2 usb enclosure from thewirelesshaven.com. And an AR300M from Amazon which I flashed to the 2020-03-01 Rooter firmware. The modem is only connected to paddle antennas for now until I get get it working and then see if I need something better. But I can't seem to get it working.

I had it working briefly with a Visible sim but can't get it to give internet at all now. I have two sims I've tried it with: Visible and Red Pocket verizon. Both sims work in an iPhone and in an M1. The Rooter firmware recognizes the modem and the sim but won't connect.

I've double checked that the sim is seated properlty (it is recognized anyway, so I don't think it's that), that the pigtails are seated, and that the APN is correct. I'm using a second micro USB cable for supplemental power to the enclosure.

I followed the suggestions in this thread except for reflashing the Wifix firmware since I don't have a router that takes it. From what I could tell looking at the EM12 manual, the AT commands mentioned in that thread are the same as for the EM12-g. But I feel totally lost with AT commands (as well as MBIM/QMI and modem ports).

What can I do to get this working? I can still return the AR300M and get another router if that would help.

For testing purposes I would try the following:

1. Flash the AR300M with custom GoldenOrb firmware (choose the one that matches your device).
AR300M (128MB NAND flash)
https://www.ofmodemsandmen.com/download ... -03-01.zip
AR300M-16 (16MB NOR flash)
https://www.ofmodemsandmen.com/download ... -03-01.zip

2. Disconnect the AR300M from the router, make sure DHCP is turned on, set the correct APN and TTL to 117, restart the box, then try to connect using your phone via WiFi. The idea here is to eliminate the router as a potential issue. Once you can go online on your phone, then your can move on to configuring the router.

3. Once you can go online on the AR300M via WiFi, turn off DHCP and turn on DMZ to bypass the firewall, connect it to the router, restart the box, and see if you can go online.
There are lots of different setting on the router, so that's up to you to figure out.
