WE826GO-U + EM7455 Slow Speeds

I have reflashed the firmware with the save settings box unticked.
Followed the guide each time setting the APN to broadband (att ipad plan).
Placed sim card into phone and put it in the same location as the WE826GO and get download speeds around 5-6mbps.
Placed Sim card into the WE826 and only gets about 1mbps connect by ethernet, and same over wifi.
Both times I tested the TTL setting enabled and disabled which seems like it does not have any effect.
All of this is new to me so please let me know if more info is needed.

The phone is likely getting better signal. Phones are made with MUCH higher category modems and very powerful transmission strength. The we826 needs a solid pair of antennae to match the phone.

Signal strength is your culprit most likely. I get 85+Mbps on my we826/mc7455 with just the rubber spike antennas, but my tower is 1/3 of a mile away, for my ATT connection.

Thank you for replying. I believe you are correct. My thinking was that with the upgraded antennas, I should be getting better connection then a phone.

However, I have ran into another issue. After anywhere from a few minutes to maybe 30 minutes my connection drops till I unplug and plug back in the we826. Running AT!GSTATUS? when it is working, and when it drops, the only difference I see is that the RRC state changes from RRC Connected (working) to idle (not working) which is only fixed by a reboot. Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Maybe there is a command to switch it?


Edit: Further testing I was able to determine that it can switch from idle to connected just fine. So I have no idea now on the random connection drops that can only be fixed by rebooting.

The most common cause for random reboots, modem disconnects is an under powered router.
Either the power adapter is unable to supply enough amperage despite what's on the label, or during load spikes (modem/WiFi transmissions) it's simply unable to keep up with sudden load increases. Try another better quality 2.5Amp or higher power adapter, just make sure the connector's size matches the router's jack perfectly.

Not saying that it's defective for sure, but anything is possible. I have seen adapters for other devices labeled 12V@2Amps, yet when I measured it under load, it was barely supplying 1Amps. So, it doesn't hurt to try another adapter just to eliminate it. You can pick up a universal home or car adapter at Walmart in the electronics section, which comes with a dozen different size connector tips to match the one on your router. Just make sure to adjust the output voltage to 12Volts, and attach the tip to be positive (+). If it's still glitching, you may be able to adjust the voltage up to 15Volts (if the adapter supports it) in order to increase the amperage. If it catches fire, make sure to unplug it quickly! lol

The psu that comes with the we826 is from the original Chinese manufacturer, ZBT. It is known to sometimes has issues, not always.

thewirelesshaven.com has a better one, that I purchased, that supplies 2.5amps.

Also Billa, the output on the PSU shows 12v at 2a. Are you powering your router in the car at 5v?

Sorry I meant 12V @ 2.5Amps
5V @ 5Amps would probably work too, though I haven't tried it.
