Netgear LB1120 4G modem

Post by timc4444 »

I already own one and my A*T&*T plan is still running.
Is it unlocked already from the factory ?
Are there any good antennas to add to it ? we get about 2-3 bars

Timc4444,

Yes, the Netgear LB1120 should be unlocked.

I ran a Netgear LB1120 with one of my AT&T sim cards for about six months. I had it up on the roof in a Nema 6 enclosure with a mimo antenna I picked up on Amazon for $25 or so. It worked ok, but would drop down to 3g (from LTE) and internet would slow down. I'm about 4 miles from the cell tower and am on the edge of coverage. When it would drop to 3g, I would have to disconnect cellular data, then reconnect cellular data. I might have to do that once or half a dozen times before it would finally lock back on the LTE band again.

I also found that it would occasionally drop cellular data and there was no way to get it to connect unless I performed a factory reset.

I finally got tired of fooling around with the LB1120 and bought a WG3526 and a Sierra Wireless MC7455. I'm running the rooter firmware on it and have the MC7455 programmed to only connect to LTE. I've been running this setup for three months now. Knock on wood, it really works nice.

Thanks. I'm going to do a build at some point as I realize this is entry level.
