USE OF AT COMMANDS

Post by JimHelms »

We are seeing more and more modems that are bricked by the improper use of AT Commands.

Unless you understand exactly what the command does, and you are certain it is the proper command for the make and model of your modem, do not use it. A bricked modem will not be covered under warranty.

I also warn members about using random AT Commands that may be posted in a topic. Some of these commands have been copied and pasted from other websites and forums--which may or may not be valid commands--and may not be compatible with a specific modem.

All AT Commands that are posted on this forum should be contained in code brackets which are accessible on the tool bar under <\> button. The code brackets should also be used when posting the return of a modem's results after entering an AT command.

Lastly, and most important, do your home work. AT Command reference documents are available from the manufacturer for the vast majority of modems. It is a good investment to study these documents prior to using its contents.
