Cradle point MBR1400 not permitted by verizon?

Post by m2bandit »

I just got this notice from verizon after setting up my router last night.

Someone on your account has switched from the to the CradlePoint by moving SIM cards. This change, however, will not work because the SIM is on an unlimited plan and incompatible with CradlePoint. We recommend replacing the SIM in the original or other compatible device.

Are you using a SIM card from a phone plan?

I purchased it from a verizon store and said it was for a cradle point modem. They said it would be fine.

I need a different plan for it?

Did they use the IMEI from the MC400LPE to activate the plan?

Or, did they sell you a SIM Card that would work in the MC400LPE and activate the SIM Card under a cell phone plan?

Generally, for a Cradlepoint router on Verizon, you need a data only plan. Some phone plans seem to work, while others will not. More and more their system is checking the IMEI's against the modem and that assigned to the plan.
