WE826 SIM not detected

Post by jmaple325iS »

Hello,

When I issue the AT+CPIN? command I get SIM not detected. I'd like to confirm the sim card orientation before looking at returning the router. I've tried all four possible orientation with no luck. I inserted a never-used sim card and found the contact scratches centered when the card contacts are face up, cut-off corner to my left and visible. Maybe I inserted the sim wrong and fried something.

I've tried both the openwrt-we826-GO2018-11-03-upgrade.bin firmware and the openwrt-we826-GO2019-03-10-upgrade.bin. I've tried both the Sierra Wireless MC7455 and the MC7750. The sim card was detected in a Sierra Wireless GX440 using the same MC7750 modem and Verizon sim.

Thanks.

Somehow I got it working. The sim goes in contact pads facing up, angled corner side heading into the unit. There may have been a tiny piece of cardboard from a sim stuck to a pin. I poked around in there with the metal tool from a NOOSY adapter kit. The SIM slot is soldered onto the back side of the circuit board. That is why the contact pads face up with the WE826.
