Are Media Players Better than Smart TV's

I have not used a media player in many years since purchasing a Sony smart tv with an android OS.

Just wondering if there is a difference in the performance with the latest media boxes and the Sony smart tv?

And, what are the advantages and disadvantages of a media player over a smart tv.

I've seen people report that they have random quality issues by just using the tv to handle the smartv functionality. It seems like asking the tv's to actually be a tv and a media player can be too much for some tv's. I'm guessing maybe your Sony has enough horsepower to handle it? But some have stated after getting an actual media play that their issues were resolved.

I use a fully load player, Vsee tv, can get all apps and every channel to think of, happy with it for over two years
