I purchased the NEXQ6GO with EM12G and the 4amp power supply in February 2022 for my parents to use and it runs on the infamous ATT tablet plan. The only "special" thing I did to the device was to set it to IPV4 only, which I have reverted to defaults, as well as "magic" on the modem. The ATT tower is only about 1 mile away from their house, with a clear sight to the tower from where the NEXQ6GO is located.
The device worked out-of-the-box for about 8 months until it started randomly disconnecting, and only getting worse to the point that I am lucky to get any connection at all.
Initial troubleshooting:
I initially attempted to update the router firmware to try and fix the issue. It temporarily fixed the issue while I was there, but by the next day it was back to disconnecting again. I looked and found some similar issues, but found either forum ghosts or some attempts to down-grade the modem firmware (I attempted this), or update router firmware (also tried this).
Second try at troubleshooting:
After confirming that it was not disconnects from congestion and/or de-prioritization I found that the router is randomly loosing connection to the modem. Interestingly Goldenorb gains connection within 10sec of every disconnect, but it may or may not be able to actually reach the modem and attempt to regain cell connection after the usb disconnects. Current thoughts:
I was hopeful that some combination of modem or router firmware would fix the issue but I am thinking now it may be a hardware issue. Please let me know your thoughts or any other ideas for troubleshooting. If possible, I would love to know if it is the router itself, the PCI-E to M.2 adapter or the modem that is causing the error.
