WE826-Q - Is there an LTE modem?

Post by kuba0001 »

Dear community,
I bought WE826-Q (according to the description it was supposed to be WE826-T, but that's a different story ...)
The router was supposed to have an LTE modem, but in the settings of the original OS router (any proprietary version of OpenWRT?) there was no way to set it up.
So I installed GoldenOrb (2020-07-26). In the Modem section, it shows "No Modem Present".
However, some device appears in Debug Information.

The router has 2 GSM antennas, 2 Wifi antennas and also a slot for a SIM card.
Can anyone give me some tip on how to run a router with LTE? Any missing driver? Or something else?

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

Its showing up there as "USB Modem" which is technically correct, but the details of VID and PID show it to be an off brand modem I cant really find any info for. This may be the issue, driver support.

you can try to set the modem to a ttyUSB2 so that the firmware can connect to the AT command terminal.

Go to the menu: MODEM > CUSTOM MODEM PORTS > CUSTOMIZE and add the following information:

Code: Select all

Switched Vendor ID: 1c9e
Switched Product ID: 9b05
PPP Modem Data Port: /dev/ttyUSB2
Communication Port: /dev/ttyUSB2
If that doesnt work try to add this script at system/startup/Local Startup.

Code: Select all

echo "0x1c9e 0x9b05" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
Click submit and reboot router

You getting the Q version versus the T2 is an upgrade.

Thanks again for your tip. I think we've moved a little. At least in that the modem has already been recognized.
However, there are still connection issues.
After hard restart there are some error messages in the Debug Info:

There are some problems with PIN code because there is an error message in the Network status: Failed to Connect : Pin Locked. Although I'm sure the settings are correct.

I've been playing with AT commands a bit, the answers seem to be fine. But the router is still not connected to the Internet.

Unfortunately, the internet connection still does not work.
I appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Thank you!
