Can't connect to WE1326 - wifi or ethernet

Post by mfisher »

Hi all,

I just assembled my WE1326 router and Sierra EM7565 modem (along with required adapter, pigtails, etc.) from The Wireless Haven and I'm unable to connect to the router's interface by any means (wifi or ethernet) to configure the modem and reflash/update the firmware.

Current status:
  • The router is able to boot - power light is on
  • LAN connected to my laptop via Ethernet - LAN light is solidly on
  • Pings to 192.168.1.1 via Ethernet are successful; pings to other IPs (e.g. 8.8.8.8) are not as expected
  • No WLAN network or light

What I've done so far:
  • Cleared browser cache, tried multiple browsers
  • Tried multiple computers
  • Tried multiple Ethernet ports

Has anyone experienced this before? Did I get a DOA router?

Are you assigning your PC eth interface with a static IP address, like 192.168.1.50/255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 ? I always do this in case the DHCP isn't working right. Are you connected to it, with your PC at the same time as another router? That can cause the router to be unresponsive due to IP conflicts. Make sure that is straight and isolated.

*Remove your SIM card until its resolved.

Try disconnecting your antenna pigtails from the modem, then power back up.

If that doesn't do it. Try removing the modem, then power back up.

Did you make modifications, like add external antennas?

Confirmed:
* SIM card removed
* WiFi off, Ethernet plugged directly into the router (straight and isolated)
* Modem physically removed
* Several resets preformed
* Tried using DHCP (unhappy, never found a router and gave itself a random IP address) and manually defining a static IP (seems to be better, shows "Connected" on my Macbook)

I still get the same results. I'm able to ping the router at 192.168.1.1 but I'm unable to pull up the router interface in any browser.

It seems like we've isolated the problem to the router - any suggestions of what to try next? Is it possible I got a DOA unit?
