WG3526-SATA_V01 connection reset when attempting to upload new firmware

Hi All,
I have an older version of the WG3526, 16M I believe, that I am trying to recover. I can get it into recovery mode but when I attempt to upload any of the firmware versions I have found so far (OpenWRT of various versions, as well as the "OEM" versions found on the Google drive here), It starts to download, and then I get a connection reset.

I was able to get it to boot into 17.04 version of OpenWRT, but I'm not sure what I did exactly to get there. It's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years(after running into the same issue) and thought I would give it another shot.

I think I got it into the current state after attempting to upload the latest OpenWRT (19.07?) via the Luci interface.

I've also tried connecting to it with a USB-serial interface to the serial pins, but am not getting any output at all from it either.

Any help would be appreciated.
