Re: Excellent Signal Strength, Poor Signal Quality with LOS
I'm guessing by the -40 RSSI that its totally clear LOS and within less than a mile. You could get away with a omni antenna, and not yagis. Try a "worse" antenna and see if it improves. More than likely the 4G modem is getting overloaded by the extremely strong signal and making throughput worse.

Short answer to your question is: Yes, this is possible.
I'm guessing by the title of "DX" you're a ham radio guy or short wave listener? It's entirely possible that you occasionally are connecting to that distant tower due to propagation enhancement. I'm a ham radio guy, and am really into high ...

that's very interesting, must have been causing some multipath destructive interference. Typically with LTE you'll want some obstructions and not just clear LOS because then you can take advantage of MIMO better. This is a complicated topic, and counter intuitive to what one would expect.

Re: My 4G setup/project
I got my EM7565 and RPi3+ up and running and noticed the system log on the Pi is filled with change cpu frequency errors. Is there a fix for this?

Re: Antenna n-connector waterproof?
Have this exact setup myself and been considerin changing. Even using band 2 and 12 as well.
Always been leary if the the pi set up and the outside box. Since have never done that before and would need to buy more items too.
My question is couldn't we do the exact same thing with our mofi routers ...

Re: Antenna n-connector waterproof?
No, I thought these n-connectors were designed to be waterproof so I didn't do anything but tighten them down.
Thanks for the info and video, looks like I have some work to do.
I'm considering redoing my whole setup which currently has 2 50 foot runs of Wilson 400 cable connected to a Mofi ...

What about foliage? Is it true the Omni antennas do better with foliage? Or do the log periodic directional antennas work just as well in foliage? Just dont have a way to space the Omni antenna apart really like they should be.
I'd go with directional antennas, since this is a fixed position ...

Re: Antenna n-connector waterproof?
Did you put anything on them at all to protect them from water ingress?
I normally first do a wrap of electrical tape in a "shingle" like fashion (overlapping itself) from the bottom up.
Then I use some coaxial waterproofing tape (this stuff is really really sticky) and do the same thing.

Welcome to the board! You came to the right place with your questions.
It sounds like you've done a good bit of home work already which is good. AT&T is who I was going to recommend as they have a reasonably priced plan.

Re: Omni & Directional antenna together
I'm not aware of anyone trying it. I may have in the past while testing antenna setups, but I can't recall.
There shouldn't be much issue aiming some log periodic directional antennas. They have a pretty wide beam width as they are fairly low gain (10dbi or less.)
It just takes some time to aim ...

Any recommendations on a switch?
Depends on how many ports you need but this is a good place to start: https://www.ui.com/unifi-switching/unifi-switch-8/
Also has PoE, but you'll need an adapter for 24v PoE.
Or you could just go with this switch which does all PoE modes: https://www.ui.com ...

@Swwifty
Just recently ordered a setup to match what you have here, except i ordered the panel antennas instead of the yagi's. I currently have a Mofi4500 w/ AT&T sim, and while speeds are decent, after seeing your setup, i realized that there was much more to be had. I also ordered the EM7511 as ...

Re: Subscriber registration failed
that's odd. A few questions
1. You postive you have service at your new location?
2. you're sure the sim/plan didn't expire somehow in between the move?
if not, maybe try and factory reset the modem and see if that fixes it.

Now discovered this issue is due the Mofi Software. First hooked up a non mofi we826-t2 with mc7455 modem installed with golden orb for one week and no issues. Then hooked up the mofi again then immediately when trying to download a game kicked me off the internet. So then I took the ...

No idea, I would guess they get less wireless resources since they share the infrastructure from another carrier.

Swwifty my friend, you are more helpful than you know and your build has helped quite a bit with other questions I might have had. Your testing with the panel antennas was also quite enlightening. I'm assuming my best bet is to just test with the antennas I get and see what bands I pick up with ...
