Latest version firmware. 2022-03-23a.
I finally splashed out on a Cudy LT18 and the NEXP1GO is now relegated to being a spare router / modem. It had a handful of problems. None of them showstoppers but a source of frustration.

Great. I think this is actually a bug in ROOter/OpenWRT because when one creates a connection profile in the ROOter/OpenWRT GUI he can specify the required protocol. The problem is that later the system overwrites this setting and automatically uses IPv4V6 instead.

Re: Changing TTL with a Scheduled Task
If you build this task, how do you know what to set the TTL to? Is there really a reliable pattern like "after one hour set it to 66, next hour 67 etc? I thought it was kind of random. Maybe you were going to try a selection of them and pick the best speed. That sounds challenging to say the least.

There's almost no settings to set. I just use the config file I download from Windscribe. It's basically just the keys and endpoint IP address etc.

Re: Wireguard on ROOter?
Right, but I've noticed that each time I change it, I am only able to buy myself a few hours of unthrottled speeds. Are you familiar with how to schedule a task so that the TTL value will change for example every hour? Or perhaps you've had better luck with some particular settings where you don't ...

It was just DNS. When I run WireGuard it doesn't seem to be able to use the default DNS. I set custom DNS to 1.1.1.1 in the LAN interface and WireGuard is working great. This is very cool.

For what it's worth I tried the latest GoldenOrb from Rooter in my WG3526-P. It didn't quite work. Flashing the firmware went fine. I can login to the admin and see WireGuard in the VPN menu so it's tantalizingly close.

Re: Visible 5Mbps Throttle workarounds
I do not have visible but would bet all of this would be eliminated by routing through a VPN. Wouldn't think the additional TTL changes were necessary, probably just the VPN.
If they use TTL to detect tethering then a VPN won't change that. We're talking about different layers of the network ...

Okay thanks. I might try it in the next day or two.
By "custom settings" you mean settings that I've edited, right? If i had to go back to a factory reset and reload the WiFix firmware, it would be back to how it was out of the box, right?

I will have to test the WireGuard built into the latest GoldenOrb, however that still doesn't solve the lack of your WiFi 5G. And the GL-AR750S will probably give you a little better performance too.

AT&T does require you to go to one of their stores to buy the prepaid Data plans and sim (means you have to pay a $15 activation fee).
I think you can buy and activate it online here with your own SIM: https://www.att.com/prepaid/activations/#/activate.html
