Re: WG3526 with Quectel EP06 modem shows “connecting” continuously

I am wondering if the modem configuration has somehow changed. After you are certain the APN is correct, you may try resetting the modem to its OEM state (use at your own risk):

AT+QPRTPARA=3

Then, give it a minute or two and hard boot the router.

Once it boots up, promptly go to the debug ...

Re: understanding custom iptables rules

By phone only, I just meant the plan is a phone plan that does not include any hotspot data. Hence the caveats: ISPs may have different rules for how data is clocked on different types of plans. I'm using the plan via a sim in a router.

Re: understanding custom iptables rules

I'll report back to say that I experienced throttling regardless of ttl using the 007 rule, but had success with the potentially overkill four rule / newb table mods. This is in QMI mode, using a phone data only (no hotspot) unlimited plan, so those and other variables may alter which types of rules ...

Re: WE826 with EP06-A card

I;m using a similar setup (WG3526 / EP06-A) and am having a similar issue with a vzn prepaid sim. The modem managed to connect once out of 5-10 tries, the other times it is not connecting to the nearby tower. Interestingly, when I tried with a postpaid vzn sim (which has some hotspot data), I was ...

understanding custom iptables rules

Another newb question: it's often recommended that TTL rules be specifically applied to ipv6 in addition to ipv4, but I don't fully understand the oft-quoted firewall rules even after a brief read of the iptables man page on my linux box. In a vanilla GoldenOrb setup where the Custom TTL is enable ...

Re: Debugging SimpleMobile connection (APN?) on WG3526 / EP06-A

Thanks for the reply, I meant to update on this after contacting SM. Who was right? The newbie APN theory or BillA's roaming hypothesis?

The correct APN for SimpleMobile is "simple" (without the quotes, all lower case).
As far as I know, they don't block modems just because of a wrong APN, but ...

Re: Debugging SimpleMobile connection (APN?) on WG3526 / EP06-A

I'll solve my own newbie mystery (at least partially) in case it helps someone in the future: it turns out that when I check my account online, it shows that my device is in "invalid status", and that I need to call SM, likely to reactive service with the sim back in my phone. Of course I can't do ...

Debugging SimpleMobile connection (APN?) on WG3526 / EP06-A

Thanks already for a lot of useful information on these forums. I'm trying out several sims in my router to determine what works best. SimpleMobile is unlikley to win because my iphone 6 doesn't even get signal when the SIM is in the phone. That said, the EP06-A is a little stronger, and I'd expect ...

Re: CBA850LP6: can I change TTL?

A belated thanks for the reply. I ended up going with a 3526 / Quectel solution.

CBA850LP6: can I change TTL?

The (out of stock) WE routers allow one to modify the TTL config for use with various providers. Is that feasible on this router? I didn’t see any discussion of it in the tutorials.
