Re: Low-noise amplifier for Antennas

Correct. An amp for receive on a TV antenna is much better there than at the receiver side. At the antenna it amplifies a cleaner signal. For transceiver systems the equipment running a very short coaxial feed line and placed in an enclosure right on the mast is great. Just then run power and data ...

Re: Low-noise amplifier for Antennas

An LNA is only for an RX system unless it's a very specialized one with an RF bypass. Your Tx will fry the LNA instantly.

Re: UltraGain 26 parabolic antenna assembly

Hello . The feed horn comes preset for best mid band performance. That's 1.5 to 3.0 GHz. To improve 700-800 MHz slide the feedhorn in 1 inch. Or 2 inches for 600. This gets you another 1.5 to 2 Dbi..
To add some gain to 3.5ghz to 6.5 ghz pull it out 1 or 2 inches.

Re: Yagi or parabolic grid in my situation?

Great piece of work putting together all that information. I didnt have time to read 100% of it but Swiffty is right. Best solution is the radio device in a box a few feet from the antenna/s. I followed down the thread because I saw "Yagi" and thats no good because thats a narrow band antenna. Im ...

Re: Homebrew Quad 1900MHz Antennas

Nice work on those Bi-Quad antenna structures. Ive got a pile of leftover 1900 Mhz 4-patch PCB (14.5dBi) and back plates. The PCB mounts aprox 5mm above the back plate and is fed by a pin or center of the grounded coax. I can mail you a set if you PM with an address. Its free. Rather see em in use ...

Re: At Wits End....

I once purchased several different TS9 to SMA adapters on ebay and Amazon. Checking in the lab I found all had strange losses and SWR spikes. Some made with RG-316 were less bad. I trust the SMA end so I think the TS-9 side is usually the problem. It is small and must be very precisely made and ...

Re: 26 dBi ultra wide-band parabolic grid antenna

2nd reply.... If you need to squeeze the last drop of dBi gain on this or any tower mounted antenna, try putting the radio right below them in a waterproof box. Run the ethernet cable or power wire to the modem and save all that cable loss (and expense)

Re: 26 dBi ultra wide-band parabolic grid antenna

Hi Need4Speed, Looks like a nice install. You can normally use a parabolic antenna almost edge to edge. However this one I suggest 12" edge to edge. The reflector grid is actually undersized at the lower bands 600 to around 900 Mhz. The wavelengths there are large and the feed horns might start ...

Re: 26 dBi ultra wide-band parabolic grid antenna

Hello all, I just found this long thread about the wide band parabolic grid. I work at the design and fabrication shop and lab where it originated and can answer any questions. How can I help?
