Re: Testing with SimpleMobile
Situation report: Many thanks to BillA for setting up the SimpleMobile SIM with video compression disabled. Router is up and running with some details to note: * This is not the intended modem I'll be using (currently EC25-AF, Cat4 modem, which I do not believe does CA) * The base-grade antennas are ...

Re: Any thoughts on CricketWireless?
Thinking out loud- If your signal was strong enough so you could keep costs low without additional, expensive antenna kit, bundle 3-4 of these plans (each with its own modem/hardware setup) into a load balancing/failover router. Or figure out how to do this with a single piece of router kit and 3-4 ...

Re: Testing with SimpleMobile
Situation Report: First off and this is IMPORTANT if you have not read up on past posts regarding this subject: It appears SimpleMobile is getting wise to router use, and is suspending/hotlining/blocking SIMS based on a number of criteria. You've been warned. Backstory: Using a EC25-AF modem in a ...

Re: EM12-G in a WG3526
As a side note (and a FYI), although there is no performance issue or lack of connectivity due to it, the modem active LED ("3G/4G") on the WG3526 is no longer functioning while using the EM12-G (located in a PCI-E to M2 adapter). Testing has shown the LED is functional, and can be manually ...

Re: Setting TTL on the WG3526 with an EC25 Modem
This is excellent. Thank you! iptables approach is a good alternative—I can muck through it if I spend enough time researching what it is I’m trying to do due to lack of often/common use (my fault/problem, not iptables fault). It’s a bad excuse, but the one I am currently using. Thank you again.

EM12-G in a WG3526
First surgery done on my WG3526. I replaced the EC25-AF with a EM12-G. Fairly straightforward. I was under the impression that the EM12-G had three antenna ports for 3x MIMO. This is not the case. It has Main, Div, and GNSS antenna ports. I drilled and added the third port anyway, as I bought the ...

Re: T-moble / SImple Mobile, NEXQ6GO-U, Quectel EP06
Ideally, I'd like to go with the WG3526 and at least a Cat 12 modem. Hi JR531--I'm currently experimenting with a WG3526 and a Quectel EM12-G modem (CAT12). I'm currently using SimpleMobile for the MVNO, and so far so good. Still doing some tweaks here and there, but I have no regrets as of yet ...

Re: Testing with SimpleMobile
Situation Report: It's been about 5 days of use with the current SimpleMobile approach, and I am happy to report all is working well. If you are reading this post without having read up on the previous info regarding using SimpleMobile with a Quectel EC25-AF/EM12-G (probably more), I politely urge ...

Re: Poynting XPOL-2-5G Antenna (A-XPOL-0002-V3-01) Review
Bummer that is is SMA connection. I picked up one of these too while waiting for The Wireless Haven to restock their 15dBi flat panel. Need to see about adapting it to N-type connectors in order to use it with my lightning arrestors. There is an N-Type connector version available, please see below ...

Re: Issues with new EM20-G
Have you tried to use it as a startup AT command in ROOTer? IIRC there is a setting specifically for it. I'd like to see where that may be--could be useful for future experimentation. I was exploring the WG3526's Linux filesystem via terminal connection (ssh), and grepping for "AT+" commands to see ...

Re: Testing with SimpleMobile
Sitrep, Day 15: The SimpleMobile solution, as setup by BillA, is still working strong. Some promising details worth sharing and some equipment alterations worthy of note: With fair certainty, my use so far with this plan, for this period is over 100GB. I have not experienced throttling issues ...

WiFiX 1.7-3.8GHz 2x MIMO Parabolic Grid Antenna
After trying out some other flat panels from several sources/vendors, I thought I'd try the parabolic grid 2x MIMO antenna from netsolution.shop (thewirelesshaven.com). What stands out in the specs is an impressive a 21dBi gain from 1710-2690MHz: antenna_specs.jpeg For my specific application, the ...

Re: Question on Polarity of Parabolic Grid Antenna
Please understand the non-scientific nature of what I am about to say, as I have nothing but an hour's worth of experimentation to back it up: Arrow points down (towards Earth) This appeared to give the most gain (primary and diversity antennas), as reported by the MOFI4500 (stock). Similar position ...

Re: Sitrep: AT&T/TMobile Service Providers
Hello again, A little clarification is likely in order here, as the first post was not an advice seeking column per se, but more sharing an idea to solve a problem very specific to a rural situation where few to no realistic/cost-effective alternatives exist, in light of the ever-changing landscape ...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter
Hello! I've successfully setup an OpenMPTCProuter on an Intel-i3 based SBC with 8 Gigabit NIC's (industrial PC/router enclosure) I imported from China (the usual suspects). Pretty much everything went without a hitch, save attempting to find a VPS provider that could potentially provide a ...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter
Quick question-- Has anyone attempted to run a VPN or proxy at the VPS site to further obfuscate/secure connection and bypass blocking done for having a datacenter IP address? Have some time off and may attempt this, but I'm honestly not sure if possible. Considering Pihole can be run from VPS site ...
